Clozee – The poetic assassin
»Much like a fine wine, the newest EP from French producer CloZee gets better with time; each listen unveils one more layer in her deliberate and memorable productions. « The Poetic Assassin » is five tracks which are simultaneously fresh yet nostalgic, providing what could be a stunning soundtrack to a movie which has not yet been made. Chloé Herry showcases her myriad of musical talents at every turn, from live strings and keys to intricate drum programming and glitched out percussion. The progression through the album could be likened to the ebb and flow of the tides, as stirring melodies fluidly give way to captivating basslines before returning into familiar emotive territory. »
Elevated – Iamnobodi
»Nearly half of the total years he’s been on this earth, IAMNOBODI has been making music. Starting at age 13 as an emcee, he was well on the path to becoming a musician. IAMNOBODI comes from a musically passionate family – his Nigerian-born father is a blues and jazz singer mom, always a music connoisseur and supporter.
Based in Dusseldorf, Germany, IAMNOBODI has made a name for himself through his productions and remixes. With inspirations ranging from jazz to house to traditional hip hop and diverse electronic sounds, his creations take on a life of their own with each song a unique and carefully put together masterpiece.
Elevated, marks IAMNOBODI’s first official release which showcases a compilation of sounds that inspire. The single, « Maputo Dance », pays homage to the slum in Mozambique which it was named after with the intension to shed light on inspiration to create no matter what sort of living environment you’re immersed in. « Elevated » the title and second track lifted from the Elevated takes you on a wavy journey through funky bass grooves and bouncy percussion whilst maintaining a melodic yet consistent ride.
Elevated as a whole, showcases IAMNOBODI’s dedication to creating next level hip hop inspired-tunes very much keeping the memory and sound of Dilla alive while weaving in funky bass lines, soulful vocals and inspiring energy. »

Σclipse
« Every six lunar months – when Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned – we experience a partial or total lunar eclipse that can be observed anywhere on the night side of Earth. Lunar eclipses can only occur at full moon, that time when the moon is directly opposite Earth in relation to the Sun. Many ancient civilizations cultivated a multitude of myths surrounding these astronomic events, most of them depicting wild animals or mystical creatures eating the moon or crossing it’s path. Tibetan Buddhists say that during a lunar eclipse, our actions, whether good or bad, are multiplied one thousandfold, whereas, in ancient egypt, a lunar eclipse was considered to be the precursor of natural disasters, catastrophes, wars, and diseases and the biggest possible harm would be cast upon the earth if Isfet, the manifestation of the total eclipse and god of injustice and violence, would make the sky fall onto Earth and therefore bring chaos upon it. »
△ IT’S ALL CONNECTED △
Can a website be human enough to allow us to say that a website is another website’s friend? Seriously, I have no clue, I don’t even care so stop asking weird questions, will you?
Famelik here. I’ve decided to mark this transition to spring and to make some things more explicit : Unlog is, one way or another, connected to many people and projects. So lets do an update and introduce you to some of them. Not because they pay us, but because each one of them deserves it.

• Blackelk Recordings : A new beat scene based in Southern France
If you’ve been hanging around lately, you’ve obviously read several times about Blackelk Recordings. Created by UM, one of our very first podcasters, the label recently celebrated its first anniversary and plans some interesting things for 2013. All the catalogue of this new beat scene is available for free download, a good opportunity to discover previous works from artists such as Broken Drop, UM, Everydayz, Duff Ill, Hentitan, Killacam, Le Med, MLp, Freaks Show Spores, Famelik (who’s that guy again?) and many more. No shameless promo here : our connection being the logical consequence of our similar views on music, they definitely have to be on that list.

• Shabu Recordings : Splash
« post arty ambient electroacoustic synth music inspired by acid and techno » can be an option if you try to find a keyword combo to describe what’s Shabu about « whatever, just feed me new music » could be another combo. Either way, this Montreal based label holds the key to a world known to few people, full of immersive textures you’ll sometimes want to listen to at night. Axel Helios, Jesse Somfay, Avus, Niccolò Bianchi, Vaghe Stelle, Groj… are the core artists signed on this label, not to add the impressive list of artists about to join the spash (hehe, I know, you don’t). Thanks again to Axel Helios for mastering our Ravi Shankar tribute beat tape by the way!

Engone Endong is a busy cat.
Just for this year, the Montreal based producer/beatmaker and Dj is working on 3 different projects, including his debut album that he relates himself as an « Off the Planet » journey.
In December 2012, he put online a free album, « Colored Dust (lite) », under the name of the fictive band, Atsie Sun Orchestra.
This project was a huge success and was downloaded more than 5000 times (Japan with 2000 downloads)!!!
He also composed the entire soundtrack of the virtual experience of the movie/documentary « Les Etats-Unis d’Afrique- United States of Africa » by Yanick Letourneau.
Engone describes his music as an experience, a fusion of cultures and traditions, a mix of genres that can’t be really defined without listening.
He also cites Sun Ra, Alice Coltrane, Fela Kuti and traditional teachings from all across Africa as inspirations.
He started his career under the mentorship of mythic Siya Po’ssi X in 2000 (pioneer of gabonese Hip-Hop) and since then he collaborated with numerous artists such as Elom 20ce (Togo), Waahli Yussef (Canada), Safari Black (USA)…
With Dj Sugarface Nene (Beat the World, Canicule Tropicale), they formed the duet Dj combo, Kelly+Engone, performing live the Essence of Traditional Music (Latin, African, Asian, etc…) with samplers, rare vynils and percussions.
This podcast is another journey in the colored universe of Engone Endong.
From japanese mangas (Saint Seiya, Bleach) to the Bwiti and Mvet music (Gabon), It opens another window and give an interesting perspective of things to come.
He sure is a busy cat.
