Among all the talented podcasters we’ve been honored to welcome in our Unlog Podcasts’ series in 2011, VNDL was the IDM guy to follow. This Canada based DJ and producer provided us a selection of is works in the Unlog Podcast #4, among which we could already hear some tracks meant to be released some months later in an EP project called Something for Someone.
"[...] This EP will be a subtle melting between organic and cinematic substances, ambient and rythmic tracks, all in a futuristic mood."
The Argentinian label Abstrakt Reflections now counts a new promising music maker among its artists with this new release.
"Phlilippe Vandal is a young man from Canada. Phil has already signed 2 full-length albums on such competent labels as Hymen Records and Raumklang Music. However, VNDLpresents his first EP album on Abstrakt Reflections.
In his debut release, VNDL shows all the shining facets of his unique and organic style. Using live instruments as well as all range of electronic devices, Phil constructs the changing, mysterious sonic world. Textured soundscapes, generated of multitude of layers of sounds, segue to long awaited granular and massive beat parts. The musician uses all the hooks of glitch and IDM scene, combining them in a very improvising manner, originating his own, unique style of electronica. The reality, constructed by VNDL, takes you away to the world of futuristic vehicles, cybernetic cities and unknown environment. The details of the sound are so numerous and so vital, that you will probably go deep enough through the stories this music tells. Like the authentic artist, VNDL uses all the impressions of the last year of his life to make the album sound with deep emotional supply.
The long awaited EP "Something for Someone" also contains a split work with Access to Arasaka, whom VNDL calls his biggest inspiration."
Happy new year to all our readers. 2011 complete, let’s start this new year with a selection of 5 free downloads to feed your ears. Here we go!

"At the end of the first year on our own, Mad-Hop is proud to present our forth compilation with the release date set for the end of December! For this edition, we joined forces with all our favorite labels that set the standard in the futuristic sounds we love so much. We feel that supporting them is as important as supporting the beatmakers and producers we have mentioned so far.
For this edition only, we also joined forces with graffiti artists from Poland and Slovenia. Their work will soon be displayed on our webpage so stay tuned!"
"Last year , DUBLAB.COM invited a diverse spectrum of music makers from around the world to contribute 8-second loops with any ambience, rhythm, tonality or texture they desired. This song was created using the exhibition’s original 8-second audio loops as their sole sound sources. No extra samples, instruments, vocals or sound sources were used in the creation of these songs. Just like the original audio loops included in the exhibition these remixes are offered to the public under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial Copyright License. Music isnʼt a drug? Try explaining that to all the fans fiending for Lorn & Dolorʼs latest collaborative effort.
DRUGS may represent different landmarks in the producerʼs careers, but the approach to the project was the same: from their trove of unreleased material, only tracks with a certain spirit of impurity should be chosen.
By no means is this a finessed or seamless mix. It was never intended to be. More akin to a warped cassette you fished out of a gutter somewhere, DRUGS is a rough compilation of raw, uncut beats intertwined with obscure, sidetracking conversation samples from two musicians and longtime friends who havenʼt forgotten their roots, or how to play off one anotherʼs leads.
For some, Lornʼs chilling 2010 debut on Brainfeeder came out of nowhere. To the scratch beat scene, and his massive underground following, Nothing Else was an overdue breath of life not felt since the soul-wrenching melodies and punishing drums first heard in Grief Machine, Lornʼs first official release from 2007.
Following three pressings of Nothing Else, numerous syncs in video games and broadcasts, and a verifiable avalanche of live performances worldwide, Lornʼs inked a deal with London- based record label Ninja Tune, and is undoubtedly sharpening his knives in preparation for Ask The Dust; his highly-anticipated full-length due out in 2012.
Next is the eerie appearance of Dolor, whose prominent beats from the ether-world can only be described as the long and painful calm before a storm. His style is punchy, angular, loud and quiet all at once. Formal release credits include A Chapel for Velvet EP, and Reshaped Escape – a limited-edition split on independent record label Wednesday Sound with fellow musician & labelmate, adoptahighway.
Dolorʼs evocative re-imaginings of “The Morning” and “Gone” by R&B sensation The Weeknd continues to turn the heads of anyone with an Internet connection—including The Weeknd himself, who showed love for the remixes on his official blog, octobersveryown.
Supporters of either producer are sure to enjoy the deafening intensity of DRUGS. Offered free online at ohhelll.tumblr.com, the overall experience is unforgettable, and like any good drug, youʼll only get sick if you try to give it up. – #

This time, let’s go for a bassy round with a podcast provided by Construct (CA)
Based in Montreal, Founder of international podcast & blog, J’aime Le Dubstep, Construct has been pushing bass in every way possible. Starting in Halifax 5 years ago as a DnB/Breaks promoter, he discovered Dubstep and propelled himself to the air waves of CKDU.ca 88.1FM for a 2 year stint before making moves to Montreal. Jumping on board with Vilify at Bass Drive Wednesdays and running two weekly radio shows at Sub.FM & Jungletrain.net, it wasn’t long before Constuct had rinsed all the biggest clubs Montreal. Performing on stage with acts such as Benga, Skream, Rusko, Goldie, Bassnectar, Chrispy, Borgore, and many more. His intense energy on stage is felt by everyone as he tears through crates of exclusive bone shaking Dubstep/Bass Music or mind shattering Riddims & Amens; all while jumping, kicking & screaming at the helms of the mixer.
Construct is a definitive source of cutting edge Bass Music that pleases the heads to the haters every time he blows up a party. Catch him Live on Air every Tuesday night on Dubstep.FM – 8pm EST / 5pm PST / 1am UK. This summer at Evolve Festival and Sunseekers Ballroom.
